Re-opening Safely Guidance

RE-OPENING 7am Monday 12th April.

Whilst we have been waiting for an exact date to re-open we have been doing lots of work in the background to ensure our gyms are a safe place to work and a safe place to workout. We have followed the framework set our for our industry by our advisory body, UK Active. We’re really excited to inform you that we will re-open at 7am on Monday 12th April.

We have:

  • Spaced out all of the gym kit to maintain social distancing or de-commissioned certain pieces of kit where we are unable to maintain social distancing
  • Installed a number of hand sanitiser gel dispensers around the gym for you to use
  • Created a number of cleaning stations around the gym, where you can use spray and blue roll to wipe down your equipment before and after use
  • Increased our cleaning frequency and staffing to ensure the gym is as clean as possible
  • Cancelled classes until they are allowed to resume.
  • Installed floor markings to ensure people remember to keep their distance in high footfall areas
  • Placed banners and posters around the gym to remind people of the steps we need to take together to keep the gym safe
  • Set up a booking system so we can safely manage the number of people in our gyms and classes at any time.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Re-opening

WHEN WILL HELIO FITNESS RE-OPEN?

We are excited to inform you that we will be re-opening at 7am on Monday 12th April.

During the closure, we have done a lot of work to make the gyms safe to work and safe to workout.

WILL NUMBERS IN THE GYM BE RESTRICTED?

We are following government guidance and have restricted the capacity of our gyms.

We are introducing a booking system for both gym access and class bookings. This will allow us to control the number of people in the club at any time. Unfortunately, access will be denied if you have not booked your visit.

We are confident that our system will help us to create a safe training environment for you and will avoid the need to queue.

DO I NEED TO BOOK TO USE THE GYM?

Yes! You will have to book each visit in line with government guidance.

You will be able to book your visit through our website or our new app. The app is free and can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store or Google’s Play Store, just search for Helio Fitness.

To log in to the booking platform you will need the email and password you used when you joined Helio. If you have problems logging in please email your club, either blackpool@heliofitness.com or stannes@heliofitness.com with your full name and date of birth and a description of the problem and one of our team will get straight back to you.

Bookings can also be made by telephone, however, due to reduced reception staffing, we highly recommend that you use our online booking platform of the Helio Fitness app.

The booked sessions are 90 minutes. You will be able to access the gym during the first 10 minutes of the session and you will have to leave 20 minutes before the end of a booked session. This will allow us a 20-minute window at the end of each session to clean all the touchpoints before the next session enters.

WILL I HAVE TO QUEUE TO GET IN?

No, our booking system will avoid the need to queue. We’re sure you’ll agree that we are already fed up with queuing.

IS THERE IS A LIMIT TO HOW LONG I CAN STAY?

Yes, the maximum training time, if you arrive at the beginning of your booked session, will be 70 minutes. We believe that this is ample time to complete most workouts.

WHAT WILL YOUR OPENING HOURS BE?

In the first instance, we have reduced our opening hours. This will be reviewed on a weekly basis and we will extend these as soon as we are able to do so.

TEMPORARY opening hours across all gyms will be:

Blackpool

Monday – Thursday: 7am – 10.00pm

Friday: 7am – 8.30pm

Weekends: 9am – 4.30pm

ARE THE CHANGING ROOMS AND SHOWERS OPEN?

Yes, the changing rooms will remain open with access to one shower and the toilet and handwashing facilities. We do, however, encourage you to arrive at the gym dressed ready to train with minimal belongings and avoid using the changing facilities unless necessary.

Members should exercise caution whilst using the changing facilities and keep their distance from others. We will operate a regular cleaning schedule to minimise risk.

ARE THE CLASSES GOING TO BE RUNNING?

Unfortunately not. We will resume indoor group exercise classes as soon as we allowed too.

I’M AN EXISTING MEMBER, WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY PAYMENTS?

If you are an existing member most payments were frozen when we first closed. Your payments will remain frozen until after your gym re-opens. All payments will resume on the 12th April.

Annual payers will have the time we were closed added on to the end of their annual membership.

CAN I EXTEND MY PAYMENT FREEZE?

If you are still shielding, have childcare issues or if you just don’t feel comfortable despite all our safety measures, please don’t worry.   You can extend your membership freeze, for free, through until September.

I WOULD LIKE TO JOIN AS A NEW MEMBER

Due to social distancing, we will be limiting the number of new memberships available once we re-open. Memberships are currently available through our website www.heliofitness.com Click the JOIN NOW button and any offers that we have available for joining will be viewable.

WILL I NEED TO WEAR A MASK?

Following the most recent government guidance it will be necessary to wear a mask at all times except when exercising.

If you have any other questions please contact your club direct by email.
